Its really easy to do. Plug your phone in while in itunes. Hold the power and home button on your phone until Itunes recognizes it. (10-20 seconds) Then itunes will ask you if you want to restore. Say yes. It takes about 2 hours. Then you can try to jailbreak again. Its really easy, you just have follow the steps in the right time.

This link will give you easy to follow directions along with the needed downloads. Its real easy to do.

You can than alter your phone and use 3rd party apps. Just remember, if you do use any cracked apps and plan to keep them you really should pay for it.

If your phone is properly synced (meaning everything on phone can also be found in iTunes on your computer) then you should not lose anything when you switch phones.

Cellur data is a handy to have.
Go to the link I provided and should, will answer your question.
I sometimes have a habit of going overboard in detail with my answers.

iPad with Wi-Fi
is ideal if you have a wireless high-speed Internet router in your home, or if you’ll be using your iPad near a wireless hotspot — in a coffee shop or school library, for example.

Pad with Wi-Fi + 3G
includes Wi-Fi connectivity as well as 3G connectivity. 3G uses cellular signals — the same signals your cell phone uses — to connect to the Internet. Choose an iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G if you’ll be spending time in places without Wi-Fi hotspots, such as outdoors or on your morning commute.

To use cellular data, you will have to have a contract for the iPad with a cell phone carrier. This gives your iPad a 'phone number' and the connection to data. Data plans cost $ 40 and up per month. But beware of MB overage charges - the plans have a limited amount of data you can access per month, and it gets really expensive if you go over that. So streaming movies or audio through the 3G cellular data is not a good idea.

Use WiFi whenever you have the chance.

I would suggest you check with who maintains your wireless network as it sounds settings may have changed which could be security related. Filtering of MAC addresses and "hiding" the SID is of no value when speaking in security terms thus I doubt those wireless AP settings would have changed if your wireless infrastructure is being managed by a knowledgeable network engineer. The other reasonable explaination is the AP stopped working for one reason or another if you are having difficulties in one particular space of the building.

Make sure that your computer is authorized first. To do this, sign in to iTunes on your Macbook, click on the "Store" tab, then click on "Authorize computer" and follow the directions.

Then transfer the apps as you normally would:

1. Connect your computer to the iPad using the USB cable
2. Launch iTunes on the computer
3. In the Devices section of the left-hand menu on iTunes select iPad
4. Click on the Apps tab
5. In the File Sharing section you can see a list of apps that support file sharing on your iPad.
6. To copy a file from an iPad to your computer, drag and drop it from the document list to your Desktop or another folder. Or just click on the Save to... button and save the file to any location

If the apps you're trying to transfer don't show up in the file sharing section, the problem might be that the apps are iPad only. But luckily, when you buy an iTunes app, it's associated with your account so you shouldn't be worried about losing them if you need to delete them to make space for more. But some apps are only made to be downloaded to specific devices, so I don't think there's an easy way to transfer iPad only apps to your macbook.

And it makes sense that you're running out of space if you've been downloading all of the free iPad apps they have been giving out, lol.

The only way to update it is to un-jailbreak it by restoring it back to it's factory settings. Then you can get the newest software and re-jailbreak it.
