How hard would it be to install a power jack on a Dell Inspiron 1545?
The power jack in my Dell Inspiron 1545 is broken, and I need to replace it fairly cheaply.
What will I need to do this?

Do you mean where the power cord plugs into the lap top itself?
It’s gonna be $ $ $ $ most repair places don’t want to do it,too much trouble.
They will tell you over the phone “I don’t like to do it” better off buying a new lap top.
It’s a pain in the ass, and expensive. It will end up being cheaper just to buy another laptop, sorry.
I would be very surprised if you found anyone who will touch it. Since the power jack is on the motherboard, most places will not do any soldering on the motherboard because it is too easy to leave a solder bridge and short out a motherboard, and they do not want to buy a new motherboard if they short it out
