Thinkpad Home

I have a 1.5 year old Lenovo Thinkpad T400, it tends to overheat a lot to the point where it shuts down, and the fan is never at high speed when that happenes, is there anyway that I can increase the fan speed manually? I am Using Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.
Speedfan Doesn’t seem to detect any fans.

There’s a program out there called “Speedfan” it may or may not pick up the controls for your laptop. But quite often it does. This program also tells you the temperatures and how fast your fan is going and some other neat things about it.
