MSI
MSI was established in August 1986 in Jhonghe, Taipei by 5 founders – Xu Xiang (a.k.a. Joseph Hsu), Huang Jinqing (a.k.a. Jeans Huang), Lin Wentong (a.k.a. Frank Lin), You Xian’neng (a.k.a. Kenny Yu), and Lu Qilong(a.k.a. Henry Lu).[1][4][6] MSI concentrated on developing and manufacturing computer mainboards and graphics cards in the beginning. In 1987, the company produced the world’s first overclocking motherboard.[4]
MSI has also expanded into mainland China, opening its Baoan Plant in Shenzhen in 2000 and establishing research and development facilities Kunshan in 2001.[6] Its annual motherboard and video card production reached 20.8 million units and 11.8 million units, respectively.[6] In 2005, it had worldwide sales of US$2.4 billion.[3]
