Why does FON keep appearing on my iphone 4?

January 27th, 2012 admin Leave a comment Go to comments

So i just got an iphone 4, and it was working fine. Suddenly out of the blue, this fon website pops up. www.fon.com. So apparently it’s some wi-fi sharing, all over the world. But why does it keep appearing on my iphone? It does that all the time. Even when i’m calling someone or when i’m just listening to music. How do i get it away?

It could be your wi-fi settings searching for nearby sources or hotspots. You could set the iPhone to not search by going to Settings -> Wi-Fi-> flip the switch from On to OFF next to Wi-Fi. This will end any current connections, and set your iPhone to rely on the phone network (like AT&T or Verizon) for web browsing or basic internet connectivity.

Alternatively, you could choose a network in the list provided (if any available), preferably one that you set up at home and is encrypted, and the iPhone will automatically connect with that network. However, moving away from the hotspot will cause the iPhone to search for new networks, and therefore instigating those annoying pop-ups to sign-in with unfamiliar sites.
